Liquid Silicon

Elemental silicon is a highly beneficial but not naturally occurring plant nutrient. It is proven to aid in the formation of cell walls and by supplementing with it will help your plant to strengthen them and making them more resistant to stress and disease. In turn plants will grow denser and bushier, with thicker stems that are capable of supporting heavier yields.

How It Works

Liquid Silicon contains the compound potassium silicate at a 6% concentration. This is the ideal level for adding to your nutrient reservoir or watering can for easy uptake by your plants. As the plant absorbs the silica it moves it to the cell walls and starts to build a 'barrier' around them, allowing them to grow and strengthen beyond their usual capabilities. Because of this the stems, roots and leaves are all able to become noticeably larger and denser, all of which aids in the uptake of nutrients, absorption of CO2 and overall the rate of photosynthesis. Another benefit of the increased strength in the cell walls is the improved resistance to things such as stress and pests. The silica allows the plant to thrive better in hotter and dryer conditions as it does not loose as much water through the leaves as it would ordinarily, these helps prevent wilting, furthermore the thicker cell walls make the plant far less inviting for pest attack.

How To Use Growth Technology Liquid Silicon

Liquid Silicon is suitable for all growing mediums and systems and can be used during all stages of growth. Growth Technology recommends dose of 1ml per 2L of water in hard water areas and 1ml per 1L of water for soft water. It is very important to mix your required amount of Liquid Silicon in a smaller container of fresh water before then adding it to your main nutrient solution. This is to ensure it mixes thoroughly and does not 'drop out' of the mix which can sometimes occur when added in the usual fashion. Liquid Silicon should always be added BEFORE everything else. As this is what's known as a 'basic' solution it will always raise the pH of your water so you may notice more pH Down is required than what you are used to.
