The big brother to the IWS Oxypot. The giant tank has been designed for those who wish to grow giant-sized plants! It uses the same tried and tested deep water culture technique as found in the other Oxypot systems and it's ample tank capacity is capable of supporting the very largest of plants. The lid has 3 holes and the setup comes complete with 3 net pots and 2 covers, allowing it to be used in a number of ways. One giant plant, 2 mediums ones, or 3 smaller ones, the choice is yours!
Deep Water Culture (DWC) is a very simple but highly effective method of growing hydroponically. Plants are housed in small net pots containing clay pebbles, this provides a solid base for your plant and will support it. These net pots are then suspended on a lid above the reservoir below which contains your nutrient solution. An air stone(s) is located at the bottom of the reservoir and connected to an appropriate air pump which runs 24/7, the creates a highly oxygenated solution that's perfect for your plant's roots to thrive in! As the roots increase in size they grow down into the reservoir where they have constant access to nutrients and oxygen, the ultimate recipe for extreme growth and yields!
Once your system is in situ, the only setup is locating the supplied golf ball air stones into their slots at the bottom of the tank and connecting to the air pump (also supplied). The Oxypot XL uses 140mm net pots for your plant to sit in. It is important to only transplant well rooted and established plants into these pots and the system itself. Make sure you have an abundance of healthy roots on your propagation plug, add a thin layer of pebbles to the bottom of the net pot, then place your plug on top and fill the rest of the pot with pebbles. Fill the tank with your nutrient solution so it is just below the bottom of the net pot, this is approx 70L of water, turn on your air pump and start growing! The lid on the Oxypot XL is reversible which can be handy for vegging plants. This allows you to drop the net pots lower into the tank meaning that less nutrient solution is needed to reach the required fill level, saving water during this early stage where it is not needed as much.
