Ideal for starting cuttings and seeds. Rockwool is a great growing media that allows new roots access to ample water and oxygen. It is completely inert, giving you maximum control over your nutrient. Once rooted, plants are easily transplantable to any other growing method or medium. If moving into the larger rockwool blocks we offer, you will need to use any of the 'small hole' blocks with the 25mm cubes and 'large hole' for the 36mm. Supplied in trays for ease of use, the 25mm come in trays of 150 and the 36mm come in trays of 77.
For best results we recommend all rockwool be soaked for 24 hours in water that has a pH between 5.5-5.8, after which they should be allowed to drain sufficiently before use. Do not be tempted to squeeze excess water out of them as this will ruin their structure and negatively effect how well oxygen can enter the root-zone. Consider adding a dose of root stimulator or seedling nutrient to this water to ensure fast, healthy growth of your new plants!
Supplied in trays for ease of use, the 25mm come in trays of 150 and the 36mm come in trays of 77.
What is the dimensions of the tray? Do you have a propagator that will fit the 150 tray?
Hi there,
The tray measures 31x53cm and fits in our budget or hard top propagators perfectly!
Kind Regards,
hi there, i never use them before and i would like to know so, once the plant is ready for a pot, should i get the cubes out and then get the root free?
Hi there,
No, you should transplant the seedling or cutting that has rooted in the rockwool cube, directly into the pot, with the rockwool still attached.
Kind Regards,
