How It Works

Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful chemical that will very effectively attack and kill organic compounds present in the water. However whilst it is great at what it does the process in which it works makes it very unstable. Once diluted it releases a free atom of oxygen which will rapidly try to attach itself to another atom to form a stable molecule of oxygen, it is this process in which it actually kills bacteria. The problem is that it is so reactive that it will quickly break down and become inactive and thus require more to be added. This can be both time-consuming and not cost effective. Step forward Silver Bullet! The formula was originally designed years ago as an alternative to chlorine and uses the addition of silver ions to stabilise the highly reactive hydrogen peroxide. The result a hydrogen peroxide solution that remains stable and active in your nutrient solution for weeks! You get all the benefits of root health and water oxygenation without the need to keep topping it up.

1. A typical bacterium naturally emits a negative charge. Silver Bullet is attracted by this charge.

2. The Silver Bullet inhibits the defence mechanism, allowing the powerful free radicals to attack the bacterium’s cell membrane.

3. Free radicals penetrate the membrane and destroy the bacterium. Once killed, it no longer emits a negative charge. Excess oxygen is released.

4. Silver Bullet is now attracted to the next problem site that is emitting a negative charge. The process repeats.

How To Use Silver Bullet Roots

Silver Bullet Roots is primarily designed for hydroponic systems, whilst it can be used in other applications this is where it works best. As with all things prevention is better than cure so a maintenance dose of 0.5-0.8ml per litre is recommended to be added throughout the entire growth cycle to maintain high levels of oxygen and a strong healthy root zone. If a problem already exists then this dose can be doubled (and in some cases tripled) as a 'shock dose' treatment to fight the infection, this can be continued until the problem is dealt with at which point you can return to using the maintenance dose. This higher dose also works well as an end of cycle 'flush' for your system once plants have been removed to sterilise and prepare them for the next crop cycle.

Silver Bullet Roots is a very worthwhile addition to any hydroponic feeding schedule, however it should not be combined with any products that contain organic compounds as it will kill them making the said product not work as it should.
