Tired of carrying bags of medium into your grow room? UGro has the solution! At last a top quality coco coir product is available in brick form. Simply add water to rehydrate and produce 70 litres of premium quality coir that's ready for potting with immediately. UGro coco undergoes a strict preparation process to ensure the substrate is free from pathogens, unwanted roots and fibres and is buffered with a stable pH of 5.5 - 6.5 making it perfect for growing plants. It's our only choice of coco brick we offer as we are certain the quality matches that of standard hydrated media.
UGro bricks need hydrating before use. This is a quick and easy process that requires just plain water and a container large enough to hold the hydrated medium. To prepare your bricks add them to your chosen container (a large builders bucket works well) then pour over 18 litres of water per brick so that they are able to absorb all of the liquid. The bricks take 2-3 minutes to fully hydrate, at which point you will see them growing in size and expanding, you can use your hands to help break and separate the blocks until no compressed lumps remain. Now transfer the coco to your chosen growing container and plant out!
Never compact the coir too much when you are potting up your plants. Try to shake and tap the pots to make sure the coir settles out and levels properly. Compacting the media will reduce the overall availability of oxygen and result in less than optimal growth. We find a 10-20% run-off works well with coir and plants should not be re-watered until they have dropped to about half the weight as what they were when last watered.
It is very important to use a ‘coco-specific’ nutrient when growing with coir. UGro will work well with any of the brands we offer. For even better results we always recommend a top quality mycorrhizae product when potting up such as Ecothrive Biosys. As an extra boost, you can also mix in Ecothrive Charge to your prepared substrate which works fantastically with coco mediums.
UGro XL Coco Bricks are available in 5kg packs which make up to 70L of hydrated coco coir.
Good afternoon, I am enquiring about the coir, does it contain trichome? Just because it will be used as substrate for growing mushrooms. Will it be readily available as well?
Hi there,
We have confirmed with the manufacturer that the UGro XL Coco Bricks are sterlised upon production and contain nothing but inert coco coir.
Kind Regards,
