Atami Washed & Buffered Cocos

Washed & Buffered Cocos is a brand new coir growing media from Atami. Comprised of only quality coconut fibres that have been throughly washed and undergone a buffering process to make them pH stable and ready for growing. This product has no added fertilisers and therefore an exceptionally low electrical conductivity (EC) making it ideal for plants in all stages of growth and is especially suited for growers who wish to have the most control over the nutrition they are adding. As with any quality coco-coir substrate, Atami Cocos has really good water holding properties but still maintains a great structure to allow plenty of aeration to your root zone. 

How To Use Atami Washed & Buffered Cocos

Atami coco coir is ready to use straight out the bag. As always, it's important to never compact the coir too much when you are potting up your plants. Try to shake and tap the pots to make sure the coir settles out and levels properly. Compacting the media will reduce the overall availability of oxygen and result in less than optimal growth. We find a 10-20% run-off works well with coco and plants should not be re-watered until they have dropped to about half the weight as what they were when last watered. Pick up your pots after watering to get an idea of the weight and use this method to re-check.

It is very important to use a ‘coco-specific’ nutrient when growing with coir. Atami Cocos will work well with any of the brands we offer. For even better results we always recommend a top quality mycorrhizae product when potting up such as Ecothrive Biosys. As an extra boost, you can also mix in Ecothrive Charge to your prepared substrate which works really well with coco mediums to get your plants off to a great start.
